Happy Easter and General Conference!

Hi everyone!

How is everyone doing after this General Conference weekend? And Of course Easter Weekend! Well, I loved General Conference because it was all about the family and how we can strengthen our own family. In between the Sunday session my companions and I made our own Easter Dinner! So, I finally made frybread! It was ok because we didn’t have any dry milk, but of course we had the Blue Bird! We were just talking about the traditions in my family and how every Easter we would color eggs and someone would put money value on the Eggs! :D

So what happened this week? Well this week we were able to set a baptismal date with a woman name Silvia. I don’t know if I said this but Silvia was the one that cried during our lesson because she was so confused. We had explained that the apostasy and that time that other church had the right intention of baptizing people but they didn’t have the authority, Or the permission to act in God’s name. So she cried because she it clicked that her baptism wasn’t valid. But we were able to come back and set a goal for her to get baptized on April 25, 2010. We told her if she were to go to General Conference she would get her answer if the church is true or not. So she came with her brother, recent convert to the singles ward, and her mother. She said that she feels good and she was happy! So I hope that she got her answer.

So, we were visiting a mom and her son and her son’s friend came in towards the end of the lesson. The son name is Ricardo and Ricardo friend is name Terry. Terry and Ricardo are very quite people but then I saw that they have a line to play Halo. So then I was like so are you the ones that like to play the 360. And they were like yah. And I said, what is your favorite type of video games? And Terry said, we play video games that are kinda gory. So then I said, so like Halo 1, 2, 3, Resident Evil 5 and Gears of War 2? They were shocked that I knew the titiles of the game. From that moment they totally opened up to us and our message that we are sharing. Terry expressed that he was kinda forced to go to church when he was younger and that’s why he doesn’t go today. Then I did the whole seminary annolgy of laws and why they are important. I asked him so if you could have any car what car would it be? And he wants the Bumble Bee car, and Ricardo said I would want some Neason car. Then I was ok I’ll pick the Porce 911. They were impressed because I know what a 911 is. Then im like so then a Hummer comes along and just rolls over our cars, and we can do anything about it because we “live” in a socity without rules. And that person in the Hummer doesn’t have to pay for the damages. Terry ws about to cry and with that analogy he knew why certain laws are important; to help us out. In conclusion, Terry wanted a Book of Mormon and he said when he knows the things that we teach him are true, he would get baptized on April 25, 2010. So this blog I have to give a shout out to Casey, Eric, and Clarence. Without them I wouldn’t have been able to relate to Ricardo and Terry. Ricardo said that if I bet him in Halo 3 that he would come to church. But I kinda can’t do that because it’s against mission rules to play video games. So I’m just going to have to find someone that can.

Another person that we got to see was Rosiaro. She is the mother of two recent converts who are 15 and 14, and her husband who just recently got baptized. Rosiaro knows that the church is true but she doesn’t want to get baptized. So we are just going to let her chill and let her get baptized in her own time.

Oh, I got to talked with my “Cousin” his is my cousin because he is from Honduras and I’m Native American, so we are cousins….yah… we saw him outside his apartment complex and we were seeing how he is doing. We asked him random question, like why doesn’t he come to church. Then I asked him what is the 4th commandment? And he said aren’t there 5 commandments? Then we were a little like eh…Hermano there are 10. Then we stared to go over the 10 commandments. Then we asked him about the 1st one. And it says No other God and basically to worship only God. And we explained that Maria is a great person and how she is the mother of Jesus Chgrist but we do not worship her and we don’t pray to her. But she is a very important person but we only pray to God. Carlso was very impressed that we know a lot about the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Then he told us that we don’t lie and since we don’t lie we told him to stop praying to Maria and only God! And he said he would and we are trying to get him to come to church!

Well, I hope that everyone had a great week and weekend! Go UNM for final four…hahah I know that they got out 1st round. But maybe next year!

I love you all!
