Life As A Missionary

Good Morning Everyone! How are we doing this week? Well, this week has been an interesting week! Remember Irene? Well, we called her husband and he told us that she does have cancer and that they need to take out her uterus and she is in complete denial! So she feld the country and the last time I heard she is in Mexico. She wants time to think about this decision, but her husband is all for it because he wants to do what is best for his wife. He knows that this is the end of their chances of having kids, so he is thinking about her heath 1st then the children. Perhaps, in the future they can adopt their own children.
Speaking about cancer, Rita Martinez, she had her surgery and it went well, she should be leaving the hospital tomorrow; which is always good! But she can’t come to church or do basically, anything until 6 weeks! But keep her in your prayers that she may recover quickly So, sat we finally got into a house with Julita, she is a referral from someone in Washington. Its been so hard because Julita has been depressed because she is living with her husband who has been cheating on her and he knows that she knows. But the kids don’t know so she has been telling us that she is looking for a divorce attorney but she says that things are getting better, slowly. So hopefully, things will be getting better. But she invited us to dinner on Sunday night and oh my goodness! That was some great food that we had! We had some carne asada with like some Puerto Rican rice and some plantnes…oh my goodness! Its some of the best food I ever had on my mission! I also now have a Puerto Rican uncle name Roni. He like cooked us dinner, he is a family friend of Julieta.
Roni has taken the lessons before and he loves missionaries and he told us that he misses the elders. And he used to tell us stoies that he used to throw huge going always parties for the missionaries when they return home. And he cant believes that I am going home because he says that 2 months isn’t very long..which it isn’t! ah… Well everyone I love and miss you! I hope that ya’ll have a great week!

Take The Good With The Bad:)

well, This week we were able to set a date with Rita Marteniz, she is a memeber referal. We only taught her one time about lesson 1 and she kinda didn't get it, but we went back and taught a lesson about the Holy Ghost, then we asked her if we could set another date for baptism and she didn't get why we need to get baptized. then the member that was in the lesson explained, very simply why we need to get baptized. and then Rita was like of course i'll get baptized! she is going into surgery this week because she has breast cancer, so we set the date for 6 week after. and ironically, that her birthday! and the family was just talking about how wierd would it be if she got baptized on her birthday! and it is going though!! this is just a testiomny to me to knwo that their are people ready, and you have to find so much to find those people! i love how the gospel blesses families. sorry its so short!! but i love you all! i hope that you have a great week!!!

Good Week:)

Hello Everyone! I hope that everyone had a great week! I had a good birthday party!! On Monday some of the elders and my companion went bowling! I guess I am a master bowler or everyone else isn’t that good. I guess I can bowl over 100! So, I just tell everyone it’s the Holy Ghost! Plus, I got to eat hamburgers! The member didn’t know it was my birthday but she made my day!! Because I didn’t have bean or rice or tortilla!
This week we got too met with Norma and her family! I was super excited because we got to see her wash and help her clean her dogs. (she has show dogs) then we were able to watch the Legacy’s with them and Normal absolutely loved it! Norma loves the stories about the pioneers and I just kill me that she can’t get baptized but she will as soon as she gets married. The hard part is done, now it is just waiting…usually that is the hardest part.

This week we got to met with the Nielson and bad news, we found out that Hermana Nielson has uterus cancer and her dreams of having a family is shot because they might have to take out her uterus. Brother Nielson wanted us to tell him that a miracle is going to happen that the next time they go to the doctors appointment he is going to say its gone! But we cant say that, we cant say everything is going to be alright and we tried to explain to him that we cant tell him what to do because we aren’t his priesthood leaders. We explain that he needs to see the bishop so that they can get everything figured out. So they said they are going to call us for us to come by because this week they are going to make that choice of kids or living…
Speaking about cancer, we have another investigator with breast cancer. She is the aunt of one of the councilors in the branch presidency. She has been coming to church for a month but we couldn’t teach her because she lived in another part of Dallas but she moved in with her nephew so we are now teaching her. We invted her to be baptized but she said yes, and we tried to set a date but he said no because she wants to learn more. I told her I was baptized when I was 8 and I knew like nothing but I love my Heavenly Father, the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. But she wants to learn more but she knows that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. But she wont do anything until she learns more and after her surgery. Well, that was basically my week in a nutshell! I hope that ya’ll have a great day! Love you all!

Early Morning Seminary

Dear Everyone!
Hi! I cant believe how great general conference was! I loved all the talkers and the inspiring message that they brings. This general conference I drew a stick cow…I feel so bad bc it looked like it was going to fall over…blah. But always, I love the message that the apostles and the prophet brings. Im just glad that we aren’t living in spiritual darklness and that we have a modern day prophet to lead and guide us.
This week I went to early morning seminary! The 1st time in my life..usually this early morning serminary starts at 5am but we were lucky enough to go at 6:00am. We were going to help teach the kids to memorize scripture masteries. But we we got their they were having a surprise birthday party for the teacher! She felt so bad bc she didn’t know neither did we. So instead we got to partake of cake, fruit, and yogurt! How exciting! It was fun..it was the effort that counted. This week we taught Fernando and his wife. Fernando is getting the whole concept of God and Jesus Christ. We didn’t teach Fernando and his wife an actual lesson, well we tired but Fernando has so many questions that is hard to get though a lesson. We started to teach him about the plan of salvation and how it is necessary that we need a Savior of the world. But after about an hour and a half teach him, we didn’t get to adam and eve. Fernando like the part about the pre earth life…he is still getting the concept about how we are spirts before this life!

Well, my miracle started about two weeks ago when my companion had to go to the bathroom while we were knocking doors but their wasn’t a bathroom in site. So I was like hey a member lives here, and their were about 3 memebers that lived on one street and all of them weren’t home. So I was like hey, a less active member lives here lets go here. So we kocked on this less active member house but his wife was the only one home so we knocked shared a scripture and prayed with her. So that was about two weeks ago, then we were at dinner at a member house and that member got a knock oh her door and it was that less active member asking for us and we just happened to be there. So after dinner we went over and he had told us that his wife felt the spirt and she wanted to go to church! And we told him that the next day was general conference and he cried. He cried because he knows that his wife was touched by the Holy Ghost! He knows that it just didn’t happen by chance that we stopped by his house and that we were at his neighbors house. He knows that this is the way the Lord put us in his path. Well, everyone! Remember its my birthday tomorrow!!! Im getting old!!! 25 years old!!
