Jalapenos and Grapes

Hi everyone! how has your week has been going? Mine was great! this week we are expecting rain,snow,and sun. i swear, only in texas where it would 71 degrees around 2 or 3 and by 6 or 7 its down in the 40's.

Anyways, this week was super fun! We went over to a less active house and showed his wife, Janet, there son program from a couple of weeks ago. Janet loved it. I guess we showed her how much we care about her because of the video we showed her. But now she has confidence in us, so next time we teach her we are going to commit her to baptism. But the only bad thing is she doesn't believe that the Church is true. But in her heart she does. I think outside influences are telling her that our chruch is wrong. But right now we are killing her with kindness.

So i decided that living in Texas, is great because 1. I have hot water ever day! and 2. I dont have to worry about getting deptored but the bad thing, being a Spanish missionairy, not everyone speaks Spanish, hahaha. We found a lot of great potential people but they are white, and they only speak English. We got to talk to a lot of English speaking people. For once in my life, I was acctually nice. I'm gald that I was because we would knock on people doors and they were like. "Oh wow. Mormons." Then we would have a converstation about the Gospel. In the end they werent interested about learing more about our gospel but they were like...yah I've always know someone who is Mormon and they were always nice and you two are nice. So in conclusion I need to stay nice so that they can always have a sweet taste in their mouths about Mormons!

Now, to the Hispanics. This week we went and saw Carmen and Jose. Remeber Carmen, the one that took 20 mins to understand that I'm Native American? We went and visited their family and Jose is totally overwhemeed by the information we taught him. We finished the plan of salvation. I know that they Holy Ghost is testifying that what we are saying is true. It's just that he doesnt know or how to recognized the Honly Ghost. He was saying that he remembers the stuff that we are teaching him, but he doesnt know where he has heard it from. The thing is that we are the only church that believes in the Plan of Salvation! I know he knows that what we share is true, he just needs time because it is overwheleming information that we are teaching.

Oh so my companion Hna Finnell got sick so I went on exchanged with a member in my spanish branch. Pricella (sorry if i spelled your name wrong) and she was amazing! She is going to be a future missionary! We were kocking doors and she wouldn't take no for an answer! She would knock on peoples doors untill they answered! Which is great! We taught a recent convert family about the Holy Ghost and I used my favorite analogy that I read from an Ensign article. If you eat a grape and jalapeno at the same time which one can you taste? The jalapeno because it over powers the other. So the holy ghost is like the grape, when you do bad stuff you cant taste or feel the holy ghost, so we need to do stuff so that we can keep the holy ghost with us!

Are You Sure You Aren't Chinese?

Hi everyone!!!

Well this week started of great! i got to see a 2nd grade presentation about the circles! It was one of our less active memeber and his family. His son was a lion! It was great, and I forgot how much fun it is to watch young kids sing and dance!

On this past Tuesday we had the privilage from hearing from Elder Evans of the Quorum of the 70. He came and spoke to us about how we can become better missionaires. I loved how he gave us great suggestions that we need to do. Like how we need to be bold with people, by inviting them to be baptized on the 1st lesson. We were trying to find an investigator that we hadn't seen in a while. Instead we found her brother or friend, I'm not really sure how they are related but we asked him, "Do you go to a church?" and he said, "No." Then I was like, "Do you want to come to our church?" He looked very shock, because I dont think he is used to people telling him that he should go to church, let alone the LDS church.

This past week we got to visit with Carmen, Jose, and her family. I love Carmen so much, because she thinks that everything is good. I love her but she can be a blonde. For instance, before Jose got home, I had to explain to her that I'm not from China. I spent about 20 mins tell her that I am Native American, and basically how all my family is from Arizona. And how my people were the 1st people in the United States. I love Carmen but she just doesnt get it, it doesnt always click for her. But when Jose came back, we taught the 1st half of the Plan of Salvation. Jose has doubts about any church. He says that he is Catholic but doesn't go to church. Now, we got him thinking about religion. Espeically, the plan of salvation. At first he didnt think that we lived before this life. We shared a scripture in the Bible, but it didn't seem like it fit his answer. So i went to the Peral of Great Price, and it settled his question. But he still has doubts about the Plan of Salvation. But The scripture in the Pearl of Great Price helped calm his nerves. Jose feels overwhelmed by the doctrine we are teaching him. But I prmoised him that he if read the Book of Mormon and prays, he will know it is true. I mean we can never take mans word about religion, but we have to ask God. Because only God has the answers to all questions!

We got to teach Ricardo about the Holy Ghost and how to recionzed when we receive an answer. He told us that he never really prayed to know if Joseph Smith was a true prophet, but he knows that th Book of Mormon is true and wants to be baptized. He knows that this is the only true church and that he wants to gift of the Holy Ghost. So, we told him that he has the Holy Ghost but when he gets baptizted this March 13. 2010 he will have a constant companion.

So I think this week was about me being Navajo. No one, well the hispanics, like never seen a Native American Before. so we were at Lorena house and she just straight up asked me "Are you Chinese?" and I was like on no I'm Indian. And then she stared talking about how she saw this show and how the Indian were treated really badly, in the past and they got into some detail that I will remain out because it isn't that great...so I think in a week of "So your not from china?", but I think thats great that they can see a real live Native American! That can somewhat speak spanish!

I have to give a shout out to Grandma Betty Little Tsinigine. My grandmother that I love so much! This week we had a record of 12 inches of snow. And of coursed we track in the snow! So my companion was getting snow in her shoes. While i was dry, but cold, but very dry! So we got grouned, because 1. ice. 2. people dont know how to drive in snow. Plus, it didnt look like the snow was going away, any time soon. So, when the snow melted there were puttles of water! I swear there were ponds of water in lot of different areas. it was fun tracking in snow. But some people werent home because they had no electricity! Some of the elders in my zone didnt have any electricity or heater. so I'm thankful for the fact that we had heat!

Anyways, the great thing about being in a companionship, when one of us gets sick the other one will eventually will get sick. So I got sick! but we still got a lot of work done.
We were able to met with Ricardo and do something different because Ricardo has all the lessons and we just read an article about enduring to the End; and holding on to the Iron Rod. Ricardo like it...then again he doesnt like to express any feels at all. His favorite word is "Si" to like everything.

We saw Lorena and had family home evening with her. We played Bingo! I swear everyone loves Bingo, because we played that game with 3 families last week. I love it because its a tool to analyze see what people know and what they don't know. The Game we played we called out a name...like Prophet. Then we have someone answer and define what is a prophet.

The hightlight of my week is when i got to see Elder Evans of the Quortum of the 70. He talked in Stake Conference. On a random side note, hispanic and Navajo are like excautly the same. Anyways, he talked about how important missionary work is. Wither or not we do serve a full time mission. I mean there are a lot of Less Active Members. He told a story about a Senior Couple leaving on there mission. And there younger son was inactive, and he bared his testimony that he wouldnt see his grandparents for a while because he would be going on his mission. The young boy had not been going to church or anything like that. But when he saw how much serving a mission was to his grandparents he relized hwo much important missionary work is. So he served his 2 years and returned with Honor.

Tie Anyone??

Hi everyone!
Well this week was interesting. and so is every other week. Last week we met an English family, a mom and her 3 daughters. We taught them the 1st lesson about the Resortation and why there are so many church on the earth. The mom was very specital of other churches because all the pastor wants is money, and how they have poor church memebers while the pastor is driving a esclade. So we told her about Christ foundation of Prophets, Aposltes, Christ, and God. Ive never felt the spirt so strongly, in my life! She commited to be baptized when she knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. Her daughters had great questions, like is it true that Lucifer and Jesus were brothers. My companion and I were impressed that she said Lucifer because not many people use that name. Dude, this family is golden! they are totally going to get baptized as soon as they come to chruch.
Well, on the Hispanic Side, we were teaching this woman name Carmen. Carmen is a talker, i mean we spent about an hour and a half talking about apostasy and she didnt get it. She said how sad it was and she didnt get the point without the power,nothing is valled here on the earth today. So, we went back and we taught her WHOLE family. Carmen, her husband Jose, and their 2 sons and 2 daughters. They get it. Jose get that Christ church was taken off the earth, and i think he is starting to get that we have the same chruch Christ established on the earth today. We invited them to come to church, but i dont know what happened. So we are going to stop by this week and see what happened.
Ricardo. Ricardo is ready to get baptized but he has a past and he needs to talk to a priesthood leader. But honeslty i think he is ready. he wants the change in his life. He knows that he can repent of his sins and be forgivin for them. Its just that he needs to be humble and confess them to the right preisthood authority. But Richardo used to wear sunglasses during sacrament meeting. then after sacrament meeting he would take them off for the 2 and 3rd hour. We talked to him about how we need to dress in the Lords house. So I gave him a tie that Elder Traveller Gave me at the MTC. I even tie his tie for him! I have to give props to my MTC district for 1. teaching me how to tie a tie and 2. Giving me a tie!
So Ricardo is changing. and will be baptized because that's his desire to change.
