Hi everyone!! How are you doing this week?! We had a pretty interesting week! We were afraid that we weren’t able to meet with Ethan because we called him and he said couldn’t met with us. Then about 10 minus later we get another call saying hey I’m at this place, and I have time can you met with me? And we were like totally yah! Give us about 10 minutes (because we were in the middle of companionship study). So we just dropped what we were doing and we met with Ethan. Before we began our lesson we were asking the basic general questions…hi how are you doing and how your week…lala that kind of stuff was. Then he was telling us that he is running for some political office and that is why he has been busy. Then Sister Martin was like if you get baptized I’ll vote for you; despite the fact that we aren’t register voters in Texas. (Ethan knew that). Then Ethan was like oh yah on that note I have three books filled with equations saying that I should be baptized. And he wants to be baptized! But he smokes, we found out that on the same day that he told us he wanted to be baptized. So we went over the Word of Wisdom. And he says that he doesn’t want to quit smoking because he is a pyromaniac. He says that is his healthy way of dealing with his problem. But we were talking with the Branch President’s wife and there is probably more of a problem than he is letting us on. So we might have to get professional help. Other than that, we are EXTREMELY excited that Ethan has the desire to be baptized! And it came out of his own mouth. So we are just going to do what we can do to help him prepare for baptism!
On a personal note, Ethan says he doesn’t have faith…but he does! He just doesn’t see it. Because we told him to stop smoking, drinking, live the Word of Wisdom and he says he will. But most of our “more religious” investigator has a hard time living the Word of Wisdom.
This week we met a lot of interesting people! Oh yah before that Hermana Finnell broke her foot. Right now, Hermana Finnell is wearing a cast on her foot! You might ask, what did she do? She was walking! Well, we don’t know exactly how, but she did. She is wearing a purple cast.
On that note, Hermana Finnell and a young lady for the singles ward went to an appointment with Nana. Nana is a new investigator Hermana Martin and I found in the parking lot at a Target. She was careening a 20 pound bag of dog food and we asked her if she needed help. And she told us that she didn’t need help and we just started asking her question about what she believes in. Then we were able to set up a return appointment and we were able to teach her twice this week. She has had some psychological traumatic events that have happened in her life, and she wants to stay away from churches. Its not the religion its about the physical church.
